It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the tragic passing of Landon Avery Akins, who was taken from us far too soon at the age of 16. Landon, of Cadogan, passed away in an auto accident on Saturday, March 22, 2025. His sudden departure has left a profound void in the lives of his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A Life Filled with Passion and Love
Born on August 4, 2008, in Kittanning, Landon was the cherished son of Leighann (Greg) Berry and the late Barry Alan (surviving Ami) Akins, Jr. From a young age, Landon displayed an adventurous spirit, a zest for life, and a deep love for his family and friends. His laughter and energy were infectious, and he had a way of making everyone around him feel special.

Landon attended Armstrong Jr./Sr. High School and had ambitious plans to attend Lenape Tech for welding, determined to build a bright future for himself. He was passionate about riding his dirt bike and spent countless joyful hours racing with Awres.

He loved fishing, hunting, and camping, activities that connected him to nature and brought him immense happiness. Landon especially cherished spending time with his family, looking forward to deer camp each year, and enjoying the warmth and camaraderie of bonfires at the Riggle house.

His enthusiasm for life was undeniable. He had an incredible ability to make friends wherever he went, always bringing joy and laughter to those around him. His kind and adventurous soul will be greatly missed by all who had the honor of knowing him. Though his time with us was brief, the memories he created will last forever.

A Heartbreaking Goodbye
Landon was preceded in death by his beloved father, “Bear” Akins, who undoubtedly welcomed him into heaven with open arms. He was also preceded by his grandfather, Tim Berry, Sr., and great-grandparents, Arthur (Martha) Akins, Carl (Stella) Trusiak, Robert (Irene) Cypher, and Donald (Martha) Knappenberger.

He leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory, including his devoted parents, Leighann and Greg Barry and Ami Akins; his siblings, Lanna Marie (Dustin) of Cadogan, Hunter (Genevieve) of Tarentum, Nikayla (Kelley) of Oakmont, and Elijah of Vandergrift.

He is also survived by his grandparents, Robert (Kim) Knappenberger of Leechburg, Charles and Laurie Toy of Kittanning; Barry and Cynthia “Nin and Pop” Akins, Sr.; Sandra Berry; David (Deb) Weaver; and Lynus (Peggy) Barr of Vandergrift.
