It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Franklin D. Nation, age 44, of Taylorville, Illinois. Franklin passed away on April 18, 2025, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield after a courageous two-year battle with gastric cancer. He was born on August 29, 1980, in Hillsboro, Illinois, to Jeannette Nation.
Franklin married Billie Rolfingsmeier on September 20, 2002, in Taylorville, and she survives him. He is also survived by his mother, Jeannette Nation; son, Hunter Nation; daughter, Emma Nation; brother, James (Linda) Nation; sister, Sheila (Tom) McDonald; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, James Nation.
Franklin was a dedicated family man who cherished his time with loved ones. He worked as a mechanic and enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially fishing and working on cars.
A celebration of Franklin’s life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Franklin D. Nation Memorial Fund.
